Fine and Performing Arts
At Faith Christian School, we desire to train the whole child to their fullest potential which we believe includes encouraging students to discover and use their creative gifts for the Lord. Our students have many opportunities to develop their skills through music, art, and drama. Our teachers are very gifted in their fields and in turn challenge the students to their highest abilities. Art:
Students have the opportunity to work with various artistic tools and methods such as paint, pastels, chalk, and pencils. All elementary students have art class twice a week. Art is an elective course on the secondary level. Student work is entered into various competitions throughout the year and our students have had numerous award-winning pieces at the State fair, ACSI Art Festival, and Arabian Horse Show exhibits.
Band:
All 3rd through 6th grade students participate in band. There are varying levels based on experience and instrument mastery. Students in Junior High and High School may take Band as an elective course.
Choir:
All elementary students have music class twice a week and secondary students may take choir as an elective course. Students will learn music theory and develop vocal skills through individual and group singing. Students will generally participate in a Winter and Spring production or concert that allows them to demonstrate their God-given vocal and dramatic talents.
High School Worship team:
Students in grades 9-12 may audition to be a part of the worship team. Because of their role as worship leaders, worship team members must not only possess musical gifts, but their lives must reflect a personal relationship with the Lord.
Drama:
Secondary students will strenghthen their performance skills while having the opportunity to learn about and participate in various dramatic projects. Students may find themselves doing reader's theater, puppetry, monologues, one-act plays, and full productions in their drama class.
